Scattered File 01

As an immigrant living in the United States, I often reflect upon my roots and identity. The lack of connection to my culture and people planted the seeds of exploration that would eventually become SCATTERED, a project that began as a means to cope with the pain of immigrating.

SCATTERED, File 01 presents my father's immigration story, as he is the root of our life as immigrants. Recreating my family's immigration journey is a step towards hope and further understanding the paths that led us here. Understanding and celebrating our stories is crucial and essential in keeping our spirit, culture, and countries alive.

Raíces - A Celebration of Latin
American Roots

In June of 2022, SCATTERED File 01 was a part of the group exhibition Raíces: A Celebration of Latin American Roots, curated by the wonderful Natasha Fortson - @curly.spice.

Raíces opened in New York City at Compére Collective from June 4 and closed on June 26. I was honored to present a piece representing my family's immigration journey.
